Linda Guerrette

Athlete, Innovator, Storyteller

One of the most prolific and well-known photographers in the gravel cycling world, Linda Guerrette ‘s resume includes images featured prominently in the Gravel Cycling Hall of Fame. And while she remains humble about her contributions, Guerrette’s images have been crucial in documenting the history of gravel cycling.

Linda has also worked diligently to lift other women up. She's forward thinking and dynamic with her ideas and her storytelling through her lens. She is also an athlete of her own accord, with three consecutive Race Across America victories – 2004-2006 – in the 4-person women’s team category.

Behind the camera, Guerrette became involved with her first DK/Unbound Gravel in 2015. She said there are a number of reasons she loves documenting the gravel scene.

“One of the reasons is understanding what the riders are going through and watching how they adapt, maybe transform,” she said. “They surprise themselves, and that helps them interact and connect with fellow riders.

“I find all the talk about defining the Spirit of Gravel fascinating, because I believe that people embody that spirit. It’s not an identifiable or measurable thing. Sure, the environment and community assist in its development, but that’s only the beginning.

“It’s something people choose to embrace, feel challenged by it, learn from, and become better humans when they make themselves vulnerable to the challenge that lies ahead. It’s addicting because it’s about the journey, not the distance traveled.”

Guerrette said there’s something different and special about riders willing to fend for themselves when they ride past the Pavement Ends sign.

“That’s where the Spirit of Gravel is at for me,” she said. “Certainly, there are people who push it away, or even mock its presence, but many more riders seek out the Spirit of Gravel. They crave it.”
